A last minute wedding in Portland, Maine

In August, Emilia reached out to me on Instagram with a simple question:
"Are you available to film our wedding next Saturday?"

I had that weekend open — and I jumped at the opportunity. I quickly booked a hotel for the night before (it was going to be an early start!) and packed my gear, ready to roll with whatever the day would bring.

There wasn’t much time to plan. I didn’t know who the photographer would be, and I only had a rough idea of the schedule.
But honestly, I welcomed the challenge. Sometimes, the best stories unfold when you trust the day and go with the flow.

One thing Emilia did send me ahead of time was a short inspiration video — a glimpse of the style and feeling she hoped for.
Looking back, that little video had a big impact on me.
It pushed me to focus more intentionally on capturing the natural energy of the day and add that nostalgic flair — a style that has now become the foundation of how I approach every wedding I film.

From start to finish, Emilia and Roman’s wedding felt effortless and full of heart.
Their ceremony was held at their local church, followed by a celebration at another church just a town over.
Instead of a typical DJ-and-dancefloor reception, friends and family performed live music, shared stories, and gathered for a big, joyful dinner.
It was intimate, emotional, and incredibly personal — a true reflection of who they are.

One of my favorite parts of the day was our time down by the water in Portland.
At the start of golden hour, we shot with a vintage blue sports car — perfect light, a beautiful setting, and a couple who made everything fun and easy.
After that, we headed into the city to capture more along the waterfront.
We even got lucky with parking — no small feat on a summer Saturday night in Portland, Maine!

I’ll always remember this wedding for its adventurous spirit.
There wasn’t a big production schedule, but there didn’t need to be — just two people in love, celebrating with the people who matter most, and trusting me to capture it authentically.

It’s a good reminder: even if you're booking last-minute, sometimes the best decision you can make is simply choosing to have your day documented.
The memories, the emotions, and the little unscripted moments — they’re worth it.
